Skateboarders challenged to show skills at competition

Local skateboarders are invited to show off their skills at the Batavia Teen Center’s third annual Skateboard Competition on Saturday, September 29 at the Blackard Skate -n- Bike Park, 411 S. River St. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. on site, and the competition will begin at noon. The registration fee is $10 in advance or $15 day of. Forms are available at the Park District Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St., or the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. The rain date is Saturday, October 6.

Entry categories will include beginner, intermediate and expert. Participants will perform a one minute run in the beginner category and a two to four minute jam session in the intermediate and expert category. Prizes will go to first, second and third place in each category. Participants can also enter the best trick contest.

The event will include an open skate prior to the event, music and concessions. The Skateboard Competition is presented by Batavia Park District in partnership with Choice Skateboards.
