About Eastside Community Center
The Eastside Community Center is home to the Park District’s New Horizons Preschool, plus rental space consisting of the large event venue Shannon Hall, a commercial kitchen, gymnasium and multipurpose room that can be added to gym rental.

Shannon Hall large event space
Shannon Hall is a former church that offers beautiful event space for up to 200 people and includes a stage area and catering kitchen.

The commercial kitchen is included in the Shannon Hall rental.

J. Murphy Gymnasium
This gym is perfect for sporting events or large gatherings. Renters may also rent the Studio 7 multipurpose room adjacent to the gym at a discounted rate.
Rent the J. Murphy Gymnasium
The J. Murphy Gymnasium is rented by the hour between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday-Saturday. Please include setup and teardown in your rental time. Renters get a 50% discount if renting the adjacent Studio 7 multipurpose room at the time of gym rental. Rates listed below are hourly.
A $200 damage deposit will be charged prior to the rental. The damage deposit will be returned if there is no damage to Park District property. Batting cages may be available for rental. Please inquire at time of rental.
J. Murphy Gymnasium FAQs
What are the room dimensions?
The gym measures 71 X 56 feet.
Can we decorate the gym?
Decorations are permitted. Do not use tape on the walls.
Can we have balloons?
Yes, but only air-filled balloons are allowed. Helium balloons are not allowed.
Wil there be staff onsite during the rental?
Yes. Front desk staff will be available to assist and answer questions.
Can we serve food or alcohol in the gym?
No. Food is not allowed in the gym. Alcohol is not permitted with this rental space.
Can we use Park District equipment?
No. Renters must bring their own athletic equipment.
Does the facility have wi-fi?
Yes.
Can we use speakers in the gym?
No.
Can we charge admission to our event?
No.
Can we use Studio 7 if it is empty?
No. Studio 7 is not included in the J. Murphy Gym rental but is available as an add-on at a 50% discount when you are reserving the gym. You must indicate the Studio 7 add-on when filling out the rental agreement and pay in advance.
Can we have a bouncy house inside at our event?
A bouncy house for the gym requires special approval. Renter must request a special use permit and submit it with the rental application. A certificate of insurance from the bouncy house company with the Batavia Park District listed as additional insured would also be needed.
