Lottery Information
Lottery Refund Policy
In special cases when enrollment for a class may be bumped from the lottery due to a full-size class, a credit in the amount of the payment will be issued to the household. If the household chooses not to use the credit, the office must be contacted before a refund check will be mailed.
Enrollment Status
Please do not call the Park District office concerning your enrollment status in programs until after May 20. Participants should assume they are registered in a class unless contacted by the Park District.
In-District / Out-of-District Distinction
In-district residents (whose taxes support the Batavia Park District) have first priority in our lottery registration process. If you are unsure of whether you are paying taxes to the Batavia Park District, give us a call or check your property tax bill.
Pre-lottery Registration:
Now through Saturday, May 10
The pre-lottery registration is for Batavia Park District residents ONLY. This time is used to provide residents with the opportunity to review the program guide and register for classes first. The pre-lottery registration begins with the receipt of the brochure until the end of the business day on Saturday, May 10.
All registrations received during this time are stamped accordingly and entered into our computer system in a “holding area” for each class. All pre-lottery registrations are eligible for the lottery. The Park District staff will utilize the dates between pre-lottery registration and the lottery day to ensure that all registrations that were dropped off, mailed, e-mailed, or faxed are entered into the computer and considered for the lottery.
Lottery Day:
Monday, May 12
What is lottery? The lottery is a computerized software program that works with our current registration system. On the lottery day the software program reviews each class by code number and selects those that have enrollment levels over the maximum. Any program that is over enrolled is subject to the lottery. The software program then randomly selects who will be registered for the class and who will be placed on a wait list. Those placed on the wait list are then contacted by the Park District to make alternative arrangements. Those who were selected are not contacted and can assume they are in the class.
BNR/Non-Resident Registration:
Thursday, May 15
This registration period is open to anyone including non-residents. Registrations received during non-resident registration periods are stamped by date and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. While staff will know what classes are filled after the lottery, they will not be able to guarantee anyone a spot in the class due to registration data entry already in progress. |
