Did you know our preschool summer camps are the perfect way to prepare your little one for preschool?
Our Summertime Playtime camps, led by experienced New Horizons Preschool staff, unlock a world of possibilities through socialization, creative activities, outdoor play time and engaging lessons in art, music, science, and math. Each week, campers embark on a new adventure, exploring exciting themes like fairy tales, transportation, dinosaurs, and outer space.

What we love about Hall Quarry Beach: Top-rated lifeguards
Our award-winning lifeguards are what make the Quarry a safe and trusted place to swim all summer long. 🏊♂️ Each lifeguard is trained through the internationally recognized StarGuard Elite program, learning important skills like water surveillance, emergency response, CPR, AED, and First Aid. Lifeguards are also specially trained for the Quarry’s turbid water.
Thanks to this dedication, our facility has earned top 4- and 5-star safety ratings year after year, including perfect 5-star scores the past two summers. We’re also proud to have lifeguards recognized with the “Elite Lifeguard” award. When you visit the Quarry, you can feel confident knowing safety is our top priority.

We have exciting news to share! The Illinois Association of Museums Awards Committee recognized Batavia Depot Museum Curator, Jessica Meis as Museum Professional of the Year! To quote Museum Director Kate Garrett, "This is a highly competitive award recognizing a museum professional who has demonstrated excellence and a commitment to growing in the museum field."
The Batavia Depot Museum was also recognized as an example of the field's best practices for the Spring/Summer 2025 exhibit, "The Museum a Community Built." This is the third award winning exhibit the Museum staff have produced since 2021. Congratulations to Kate, Jessica, museum staff, interns, The Batavia Historical Society, and museum volunteers.

Register for our one-day skateboarding classes at Clark Island Recreation Area for ages 6-15 and 18 and up. Learn the basics like pushing, turning, and pumping from experienced Fargo Skateboarding instructors, while also getting a solid introduction to skate park safety and etiquette.

Walk through the exhibit and discover the voices of Batavians who fought for freedom, served their country, and worked for civil rights and suffrage. See the uniforms they wore, the medals they earned, and the letters they wrote home.
Their stories helped shape our community and our country.

Today is National Exercise Day! Take a cue from our fitness instructor Mary B. and get moving! If you've been meaning to get daily exercise on your schedule, today is a great day to start! Try walking, biking, weight lifting or yoga. Your body will thank you!
Students get on-the-job experience learning from Park District staff
Students from West Aurora High School’s RISE program recently visited our Park District maintenance facility for a hands-on learning experience.
Guided by our staff, students completed a truck safety check, washed vehicles, and assembled a table using tools. With each task, students built confidence and learned what it takes to work in a maintenance setting.
Programs like RISE (Reaching Independence through Supported Education) help students explore various career paths, discover their interests, and gain real-world experience.
Thanks to teachers Ellen Hernandez and Cari Davidson, along with their paraprofessionals, for arranging this session. We’re proud to support these students as they find their path.
